Mother's Day Ode to My Mother

I don’t say ‘Thank You Momma’ – often enough

For all the minuscule things you do for me …
Whether it be waking me up after I lazily put off the alarm,
Or it be staying up hungry –till I am back from work and fed – however late it may be!

I don’t say ‘Sorry Momma’ – almost ever

For all the times I ignore you –

Whether it is not thinking of you before me … which is pretty much always

Or whether it be hurting you by my words, actions, or sometimes – by just being me!

I don’t say what you mean to me Momma – never ever

For the time never seems right to me …

Something always comes up – I’m busy, I’m tired, I’m angry, I’m irritated,

And you’re far away from my attention span – I’m only concerned with me!

I don’t say ‘I Love You Momma’

I don’t let you know what you mean to me …

But the fact is that I really do care –

It’s just that I don’t know how to say it to you

And I’m really thankful to the Almighty God

For giving me a mum like you!
